I got my 3 hour Glucose tolerance test results back- and I passed!! My results were:
Time: I had: Had to be lower than:
Fasting 94 105
1 hour 175 190
2 hours 138 165
3 hours 129 145
I did far better than I thought- not even borderline. But I was tested early for this so I still have to take it again in a few weeks. Also, my doctor’s numbers were somewhat higher than others I’ve seen.
Thanksgiving was fun at my family’s party. I got a lot of attention and apparently have quite the tummy! It was great to see Darrell playing with my cousin’s baby, Joseph. Next year we’ll be entertaining our own son!!! We also celebrated with Darrell’s parents. That was just okay- they seem to be having relationship problems and you could sense the tension in the air. We did all go out to eat together once and I got to see a bunch of tiny calves all together. Waynell and I picked out shower invitations too- that’s THIS month!!! Thanksgiving dinner was good too, especially the “boy” croissants. They were at hoot!!! LOL. One night Darrell went to bed early and I found one of the cats asleep between his legs! I seem to have managed my poultry aversion well enough to enjoy the turkey at both parties- it didn’t hurt to cover it with mashed potatoes either!! LOL.
I am used to getting all sorts of baby magazines, coupons, free samples, etc. in the mail by now (usually with the baby already here, some with him as 1 year old already!!)- but Darrell got his first one a week or so ago. It sent us into gales of laughter! This is from Nestle’s “Very Best Baby”:
We had our second car seat class on Wednesday. The instructor went over how to buckle the baby in correctly (“Buckle, tighten, clip to the pit”) and how to install the seat. It turned out to be easier than we thought! I was very relieved to find that our seat fits in both of our cars and even in the middle of the back seats. In my tiny Honda Accord, the handle has to be pushed all the way back and down (the typical stabilizing, sitting-up car seat position, if you had it on the floor) for it to fit- otherwise it mashes into the seat backs. Darrell’s seat still moves slightly more than 1 inch from side to side when installed firmly. She recommended some of that non-slip foam underneath to avoid that. Originally, the seat wasn’t supposed to fit the middle of his back seat because the seat belts were put too close together, but our car seat base was built in a way that the belt doesn’t go over the entire width of it- just a chunk of the middle of it- so it was narrow enough to do the trick! She did note that if either of us puts the seat on one of the sides, we’ll have to use the locking clip- we have “sucko” (as she put it) seatbelts that don’t lock into place unless in a crash. She did say that sometimes giving the belt clip a 180 degree twist before clipping it might do the trick- we’d have to try it out and see if it stabilizes the seat enough. She was full of neat tricks!
