39w4d. Looks like I am going to make it to my due date. I can’t believe things haven’t progressed lately! I am very tired of waiting now and just want to meet my son!!! Darrell is just as excited as I am, but without lots of contractions, it just isn’t going to happen!! He must be rather big now (I estimate about 9 ½ pounds) because even though he is positioned far down, I am starting to get breathless moments again. I am nauseous once in awhile too.
My last OB appointment on Thursday went fine. I was pretty sad when she said that I am 2 cm dilated still and was really bummed with a 5 ½ pound weight gain. I seem to swell a bit more every day now, so I am sure that is all water weight (and maybe some baby!). I did let the Dr. know that I feel him move around much less now and was concerned about it. So she put me on the monitor and had me do a non-stress test (NST). They fed me grape juice and cheese crackers which sent Brendan into fits of pleasure because he moved a bunch! It was a lot of fun to see how his movements corresponded to increases in his heart rate (from the 140s to the 180s!). But the line that monitors contractions was as flat as can be the whole 20 or 30 minutes. Dr. said he was behaving perfectly. Urine and blood pressure were great. My next appointment is on my due date, Thursday.
Looks like my mom is going to be here on the 24th. I am a bit upset since I asked her to wait until April, but what can I do? We are going to be bombarded with visitors for maybe a week and then nothing- no help when I think I am going to need it most. Who knows? Perhaps this is a blessing in disguise and I’ll really want to go back to our private little lives. Come to think of it, that doesn’t sound too bad!
Congratulations Meese on the birth of Antonio and Lauren. I bet you are sooo happy right now snuggling and cuddling with them!!! I am jealous that your wait is over!!!
