The scene: Lexie gets up at 5:30 this morning, standing by my side of the bed, and says “Mumma, please wake me up before you leave for work today”
Me—”Sure Lexie, sure”
Lexie–”PROMISE Mumma, PROMISE you will”
Me–”Yes Lex, NOW GO BACK TO BED”
7:00 AM
Me–In the shower as I am getting ready to get out I hear
Leixe–”MUMMA” (yelled very very loud)
Me–”WHAT Lexie, WHAT”?
Lexie–”oh, okay,”
Me–”what is okay Lexie, what?”
Lexie-”Just wanted to make sure you were still here”
30 minutes and 1 breakfast sandwich, two chips ahoy, 1 pack of strawberry fruit snacks later–
Me–”Bye peanut, Mumma’s gotta go to work”
Lexie–”Mumma, I want you to stay home, please, pllllleeeeaassseeee Mumma, I will miss you to much”
Me–”Lexie, mumma HAS to go to work”
Lexie–”PLEASE MUMMA, don’t go, please stay home”
Me–”Lexie here is the channel changer”
Lexie–sulking, gives me a great big hug and won’t let me go…….
Me–walking to cupboard, with child on my two feet standing holding on to my waist, getting out waffle bowl, walking to freezer getting out cherry vanilla ice cream, walking to table and putting said ice cream in said waffle bowl and then handing to my almost 6 year old daughter with spoon.
Lexie–”For me, Mumma, for me”?
Me–”Yes, Lexie for you, now I have to go to work”
Lexie–”Ok, see you at lunch, love you mumma, oh mumma”?
Me–”WHAT Lexie”
Lexie–”I LOVE YOU MUMMA, but the ice cream will make me not miss you so much”
Me–”I LOVE YOU TOO LEXIE, I LOVE YOU TOO”
