Pastor Brown  returned from the National Baptist USA Christian Education Congress in Saint Louis where he taught.  He reported that he and his father Reverend Dr. W.R. Brown, Sr. enrolled New Horizon Baptist Church into the National Baptist Convention as a member church and that we would have voting rights in the next national election.

The pastor further reported that over 65,000 people were present from all over the United States as well as a delegate from Africa.  Also present were some delegagtes from the islands.  There was a choir comprised of 2,000 members.  Dr. Brown, Sr.  who has attended the convention and congress for many years thanked the church for allowing him to go and to represent us.

Father’s Day was celebrated by New Horizon Baptist Church.   Pastor Brown preached on the father taking his text from Luke 15:11.   He used the parable of the Prodigal Son to show us the father.  

Pastor Brown greets Dr. Kandace Hinton who was visiting New Horizon for Father’s Day service.   Dr. Kandace Hinton sang a selection  at the pastor’s request.

Pastor W.R. Brown, Jr. leads the work crew during a work day on Phase I of the New Horizon Baptist Church’s chapel renovation.

Lumber is unloaded from the pickup truck.

Reverend Brown stacks the lumber inside that will be used to construct an overhang on the buildings front side.

Clean up is an essential part of the fix up.  Drywall debris is swept up afer the old drywall is demolished.

Bi-fold doors are stacked neatly waiting for the time of their installation.

Plumbing is revealed during the demolition and remodeling of the Ladies’ rest room.

Clean up of debris occurs in the men’s rest  room as plumbing is revealed and preparation is made for the installation of new fixtures.

An air conditioning unit is stored until it can be hooked up.

Measurements are taken and checked by a worker.

Creating New Horizons in People’s Lives.

The New Horizon Baptist Church met together for worship.  Pastor Brown took his sermon text from the Book of Acts chapter 27 and verse 44 speaking on holding on to  a plank when the storm breaks your ship apart.

A presentation of a certificate for Student of the Week is made by Pastor Brown to one of our young members who is a student of Sister Tina Dean at Lodge School.

Reverend W.R. Brown, Jr. Pastor of the New Horizon Baptist Church and members were the invited guests of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church Sunday June 3, 2007 in Indianapolis, Indiana.   Pastor Brown was invited to speak at the 11:00 AM and 3:30 PM  services.   Also participating was Reverend Dr. Dennis N. Crofts along with Minister Eric Barner who are associate ministers of New Horizon Baptist Church.   Monique Brown and her fiance were present and Monique sang a solo.  Also attending were members of New Horizon Baptist Church.

You are invited to attend worship service with us on Sunday morning at 11:00 AM.  Services are being temporarily held at the C.K. Newsome Community Center located at Walnut and Heidelbach in rooms C & D.

 Pastor W.R. Brown,Jr.  talks with Sister Laverne Hinton.   McFarland Baptist Church hosted a meal which followed the baptism ceremony of New Horizon Baptist Church’s candidates.   They graciously allowed the use of their pool and prepared dinner for the guests.
